VOLUNTEERS

We are always looking for new, enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to join our team. A volunteer at Mississauga Parent-Child Resource Centres is someone that is looking for experience working with children and their families. Volunteers are team members working alongside staff to help support our community based agency. Our volunteers are people looking to grow their skills; they are caring and responsible and they are just like you.

Application Form

Student Volunteers

Our agency greatly values the role that students play in supporting our families and centres. If you are a high school student working towards completing your 40 hours, a co-op student wanting to learn more about the field of Early Childhood Education or a college/university student fulfilling your placement requirements, we can offer you the place to learn, grow and explore.

What will I be expected to do?
  • Play and interact with children ages 0-6
  • Assist with program delivery
  • Prepare crafts and activities for children
  • Occasional child minding
  • Help maintain a clean and healthy learning environment

What are MPCRC’s requirements to volunteer?
  • Potential volunteers will be required to fill out an application form

  • Volunteers 18 years of age and older are required to obtain and provide a copy of their current Criminal Reference Check (form provided by MPCRC) before they can begin their placement

Do I need to have any experience working with children?
  • No skills are required, volunteer positions provide on the job training
  • We welcome you to share any special skills or talents that you might have.

When can I volunteer?
  • We will work with you to find a schedule that best suits your needs and the needs of the centre. Many of our centres are open evenings and weekends as well as weekdays.

How long am I required to be a volunteer?
  • High school volunteers can complete a portion or all of their 40 hours with us
  • High School volunteers will sign up for a shift and will be expected to inform the centre if they are unable to make a shift (due to the demand for shifts at some locations, only one volunteer may work at a time during a scheduled shift).

What will I learn at a centre?
  • Leadership and teaching experiences
